Sports Medicine

Sports Medicine, which is sometimes referred to as sport and exercise medicine (SEM), deals with physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. The doctors at SmartClinics who have specialised training or a special interest in Sports Medicine can treat injuries such as muscle, ligament, tendon and bone problems. They may also advise on managing and preventing injuries or treating illnesses that can affect physical performance, such as asthma and diabetes.

Musculoskeletal Medicine

Musculoskeletal Medicine addresses pain in the muscles, bones, ligaments and joints. It involves the non-surgical treatment of varied conditions, like back pain, neck pain (both acute and chronic), trigger points, pain associated with arthritis, whiplash injuries, sports injuries, and disc and nerve pain. A number of doctors at SmartClinics have a special interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine and can recommend various non-invasive therapies to manage pain and dysfunction as opposed to carrying out surgical procedures or operations.

Occupational Medicine

Occupational Medicine takes a preventative approach to health and safety in the workplace by looking at how a work environment can affect a person’s health and how a person’s health can affect their work. The doctors at SmartClinics with a special interest in Occupational Medicine may assist patients with a number of work-related health issues. This includes advising about workplace safety and the prevention of occupational injuries and disease, assessing fitness for work and helping to rehabilitate those who have suffered injury or sickness back into work.
